First Reading: Isaiah 55:10-11
Gospel: Mat.6:7-15

DAY SIX WITH
                  DAVID NATUYI
Dearest people of God,

Today the Church invites us to reflect on the Gospel according Matthew (6:7-15).  There is a popular story about a pastor who asked his church members to bring the pictures of their enemies when coming for the next Sunday. During the prayer session, he asked them to bring out the pictures and come closer to the altar. As the prayer session continued, he saw his pictures among the images that the members brought for deliverance on that day. The question is, what then will be the fate of the pastor?

In the Gospel reading of today we see the apostles asking Jesus to teach them how to pray and he taught them the “Our Father” which is the pattern of all prayers. Imbedded in it are “give us this day our daily bread, forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespasses against us, and deliver us from all evil”.

Just like Jesus said to his apostles, when you pray do not babble like the pagans who think that they will be heard because of their many words.

As Christians when we pray, we are encouraged to pray for others and not consider them as those who are unholy and unworthy but we are expected to pray following the pattern of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer:

O Lord, grant me the grace never to see myself as holier than others, but to be humble in my dealing with others in Jesus name, I pray.
